Forging More Tasks into Better Harnesses: Agentic Harness Evolution via Successive Scale Racing
AI InsightThe performance degradation observed in agentic harness evolution as task pools expand indicates that simply accumulating tasks cannot automatically improve agent capabilities. Introducing adaptive evidence selection to filter out noise is becoming a key approach for optimizing agent control flows and tool usage.Key TakeawayAgentic harness optimization is shifting from blindly scaling task pools to adaptively selecting high-quality evidence combinations. Why It MattersThe stability and tool-use capabilities of agents in real-world applications heavily depend on the evolution quality of their instructions and control flows. Solving suboptimal evidence selection directly impacts error reduction for LLM agents in complex, long-horizon tasks.Who's Affected- BeneficiaryAI DevelopersMore precise evolution frameworks reduce trial-and-error costs during agent tuning and improve the efficiency of building reliable agents.
