字节找到了DeepSeek时强时弱的原因
AI InsightByteDance's Seed team discovered that DeepSeek-V4's long-context retrieval performance fluctuates periodically every 4 tokens, a phenomenon originating from KV Cache compression and positional preferences in attention components. This indicates that long-text optimization techniques aimed at inference efficiency may unintentionally introduce structural blind spots, highlighting that balancing efficiency and stability in ultra-long-context processing remains a core pain point in current architecture design.Key TakeawayLong-context retrieval stability in LLMs is facing severe challenges from periodic positional biases introduced by KV Cache compression mechanisms. Why It MattersKV Cache compression is critical for solving long-text inference bottlenecks, but its positional biases lead to drastic differences in retrieval accuracy, directly impacting the reliability and industrial deployment of LLMs in processing massive documents and codebases.Who's Affected- At RiskDeepseekExposes underlying fluctuation issues in its long-context optimization, prompting faster architectural fixes and algorithmic iterations.
